About M. Alan Judy

My Story

I arrived at fiction writing after about twenty years in the entertainment industry and time spent in education. During the former, I wrote original productions (ranging from storylines, scripts, and music and lyrics) for many international clients, including Universal Studios Japan, Opryland Productions, Disney World Company, Disneyland Paris, Warner Brothers, Fiesta Texas, Hualien Sea World in Taiwan, the Dallas Zoo, Science City at Union Station in Kansas City, as well as other independent producers.

In the administrative arena, I worked on staff as Manager of Music for “Fiesta Texas,” a state-of-the-art entertainment venue with eight theaters featuring over 450 actors, singers, and dancers. I co-wrote, arranged, and orchestrated many productions and composed many original songs and lyrics there.

Before my work in the entertainment industry, I was an Assistant Professor of Theater at Indiana State Evansville, Director of the Old Gold Singers  at the University of Iowa, and Chairman of Commercial Music at Lamar State College.

I have always told stories, whether through my music and lyrics, my musical settings of poetry and prose, or stories written in words and paragraphs. You’ll find me these days parked in my study with a beautiful view of Southeast Texas, writing, re-writing, editing—and creating memorable characters caught up in stories that beg to be told.

"That's the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet."
